Vestibular Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy assessment/treatment for dizziness and other vestibular dysfunctions.


Women's Health Physiotherapy & Clinical Pilates

Women's health/pelvic floor physiotherapy is the treatment of any disfunction of the pelvic floor including vulva pain and/or incontinence.

Clinical Pilates is exercise on a pilates equipment with a registered physiotherapist. This treatment may be claimed on your extended health plan.


Tele-Rehab (Video) Physiotherapy

Tele-Rehab physiotherapy is an online video appointment one-on-one with your physiotherapist. Extended health benefits such as Great West Life, Pacific Blue Cross, and SunLife are covering Tele-Rehab physiotherapy. For other extended health benefit plans you may want to contact their providers directly to check for coverage. Currently all ICBC clients are covered for Tele-Rehab appointments.


Volleyball Coaching

Shawna believes in the resilience of the human body and its ability to adapt well to injury given the right nurturing and she is passionate about working with clients to help them through this process. She enjoys helping women from pregnancy to menopause in dealing with the issues that can develop for them during various stages of their lives. She has a special interest in optimizing functions for running athletes. Shawna uses an individualized, holistic approach to treatment including education, exercise, manual therapy, IMS, acupuncture and real time ultrasound (for assessing the abdominal and pelvic floor muscle function).

Shawna graduated from the UBC School of Rehabilitation Medicine in 1998. She became a Fellow of the Canadian Association of Manual and Manipulative Therapists in 2004, completed her Certificate in Medical Acupuncture in 2006 and became a Certified Gunn IMS practitioner in 2013. She also has training in Vestibular Rehabilitation, Women’s Health, Running Gait Analysis, Peripartum care and is a Certified Clinical Pilates Instructor. Shawna worked as an assistant on the Orthopaedic Manual Therapy courses and assisted in the Anatomy lab for physiotherapy students for several years.

When not at work Shawna loves spending time with family and friends, walking, running, hiking, skiing, kayaking, gardening, reading, cooking, learning and traveling.

A trained manual therapist with extensive clinical experience, April holds an Advanced Diploma in Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association Orthopaedic Division and is a Fellow in the Canadian Academy of Manual and Manipulative Therapy (FCAMPT). She is also certified in Chan Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (CG*IMS) through the Institute for the Study and Treatment of Pain (iSTOP), holds a Certificate of the Acupuncture Foundation Canada Institute (CAFCI) to perform Medical Acupuncture and is a graduate from the Discover Physio Series with Diane and L.J. Lee, with a focus on the Integrated Systems Model (ISM) and Thoracic Ring Approach.

Danielle graduated from University of British Columbia with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy. She received her Bachelors of Science in Behavioural Neuroscience from Simon Fraser University where she was also a member of the SFU varsity volleyball team. Danielle’s desire to become a physiotherapist and passion about the human body stemmed from her own experience with sport and injuries as well as watching her teammates and other athletes that she coached go through similar experiences.

Danielle has been involved in the health and wellness industry and coaching for many years working as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor helping people of all ages and abilities achieve health and wellness goals. She was also a team first aid trainer for the Burnaby Lakers Junior A. lacrosse team and has coached youth athletes through the Volleyball Canada Regional Excellence Program. Danielle is training through the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and will continue to pursue her Advanced Diploma of Manual and Manipulative therapy. She has also completed her certification of IMS/Dry Needling through Foundations Health Education.
